Breathing Life into The Future

by Gina V. Dunn

I believe that we have the power to imagine, if not write our future. Granted, to do so is scary. At the core of courage, is heart. And it’s going to take a lot of that, at least that’s been my experience.

However, there are glimpses, reminders, and teasers along the way. From time to time, if only a moment, you get to feel “Oh, this is what it’s like. I better keep doing the work.”

Or you forget your why when the uncertainty and the current circumstances look nothing like the future you envisioned. Then out of nowhere, a person, a song, a sign comes along to remind you that it isn’t about now and here...it’s about purpose.

Often, there are the almost, the so close, and the snatched away right when you thought you had it. Yeah, those hurt the most until you realize how far you’ve come. Just being that close, used to be a dream and now it’s a present.

So with a change in perspective, you realize, or at least I did that the future continues to call me forward.

The future is calling us to be ourselves. To run towards what makes us happy.

Dye your hair purple? Why not? Bold career pivot? You better. Use your voice? Absolutely.

However, while we’re running towards the futures we imagine, remember to breathe. It’s a reminder of life. Your life. My life. Breathe it in. Breathe it out. Don’t hold it in for anyone.

So live. Live now, because now is also a version of a future you envisioned, wrote, strived for and imagined.
